Came across this interesting 12 year study of the effectiveness of dietary advice when it comes to coronary heart disease:
Conclusion:
Daily intake of fruit and vegetables was associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease when combined with a high dairy fat consumption, but not when combined with a low dairy fat consumption.
Choosing wholemeal bread or eating fish at least twice a week showed no association with the outcome.
So eating fruit and veg only improves your chances if you also eat fat. Otherwise forget it. And advice about eating wholemeal bread and fish is not worth listening to.
I know its not about fructose, but the study appears to be very well constructed and quite interesting. Here's the link: http://www.mdpi.com/1660-4601/6/10/2626/pdf |
